Every plan, ranked for your yearly usage

Enter how much electricity you use in a year and see every domestic plan in Ireland, cheapest first. It's a rough first look: two homes using the same kWh can pay very different amounts depending on when they use it, and your smart meter knows exactly when you do.

This is a rough first look, not your answer.

It spreads your kWh evenly across the year. Your smart meter records every half hour, so a comparison on your own data prices each plan on exactly when you use power. Free, and you choose to share it.

How the figures are worked out

We spread your kWh over a year in the CRU's three bands (day, night 23:00 to 08:00, and peak 17:00 to 19:00) using the split you pick, the same every day, and price it on each plan's own rates. Each figure covers the next 12 months and includes VAT at 9%, the standing charge for a year, any prepay charge and the PSO levy.

Where a supplier has announced a price change, the plan is priced on today's rates up to the change and the new rates from that date. Plans are ranked by that yearly cost alone. We list every domestic plan open to you; plans for existing customers only appear when you tell us your supplier.

Electricity only, no gas. We compare plans from every domestic supplier, and no supplier pays us at present.
